Let's kick the dog while it's down!
Yet again another bash on Mississippi. Click HERE. Once you've gotten to the site, click on the map on Mississippi. Scroll down the little information bubble where it talks about who the state is likely to vote for, and read the second-to-last statement. Is that really needed? And exactly how wealthy was Mississippi?

It is interesting that for many Northern states their somewhat irrelevant FYI is missing.
I wonder if the Brits also realize that they got their money from trading slaves for tobacco, cotton, and raw materials the slaves produced....
It has been my understanding that in the 1840's Mississippi had the highest per capita rate of millionaires in the country. Cottton was truely king after the invention of the gin by Eli Whitney. Interesting fact: the only two black billionaires of the US were both from Mississippi. Can you quess who they are and in what industry they became wealthy?
boy, i didn't realize there were that many millionaires in mississippi...my bad. i guess that explains all of the old money that still remains in pockets. as far as guessing who the two black millionaires were, i'm at a lost, i'm afraid...i should wikipedia it :)
what duff said ... its a UK webpage, but the UK is the one that bought all of the cotton from the south.
